At SMCA, life outside the classroom is just as vibrant as what happens inside. Our secondary students enjoy a wide variety of events, activities, and traditions that make each year fun, memorable, and filled with opportunities to grow in faith, friendship, and creativity.
Once a month, students in Grades 7–12 step out of their usual schedule to participate in a club of their choice—from cooking to chess, shop to finance. Clubs offer a fun and creative break that lets students explore new interests and build community across grade levels.
High school students (Grades 9–12) meet monthly in small, same-gender groups led by junior and senior student leaders. Together, they dive into God’s Word, pray for one another, and grow in faith through intentional discussion and mentorship.
Each fall, secondary students attend and seniors help host a school-wide hayride and pumpkin event—assisting younger students, serving snacks, and helping create a fun, festive atmosphere for the entire SMCA community.
Each Fall, SMCA’s 8th grade class embarks on a memorable three-day trip to Pennsylvania, accompanied by Mr. Amador and parent chaperones. Over the course of Thursday through Saturday, students enjoy a live, faith-based performance at Sight & Sound Theatre in Lancaster, followed by a day of fun and thrills at Hershey Park.
More than just a getaway, this trip is a meaningful time for students to bond as a class, experience God-honoring storytelling, and celebrate entering their final year middle school with laughter and shared memories.
Each winter, students in Grades 7–12 have the opportunity to hit the slopes at Pat’s Peak for a 5-week Ski Club, enjoying fellowship and fun on the mountain.
Our 7th & 8th graders join the Senior High Choir to lead audiences in joyful performances that celebrate the birth of Christ and the close of the school year through music.
Open to students in Grades 1–8, the annual Spelling Bee challenges students' vocabulary skills in a fun and friendly competition held each winter.
Each May, SMCA juniors and seniors come together to celebrate the close of the school year with Spring Formal—a special evening filled with fun, fellowship, and lasting memories.
Planned by the 11th grade girls, this student-led event features a meal, games, and dancing, and is typically held at event venue in Southern, New Hampshire. It’s a meaningful tradition that reflects creativity, community, and the joy of shared experiences to cap off the year.
RESET kicks off with a day of worship, teaching, and games—led by student leaders and designed to re-center hearts on Christ. Spirit Week brings fun and friendly competition with themed dress days and daily afternoon games for Grades 7–12.
Led by an elected student government, SMCA’s student body hosts exciting events throughout the year—from chapels and secondary-wide competitions to the much-anticipated Nerf Battle and Christmas party.
All high school students participate in SMCA’s school-led service program, completing 20 hours of community service per year. Working in teams with an advisor, students plan and carry out meaningful projects that develop leadership, collaboration, and a heart for serving others.
A long-standing SMCA tradition, the Senior Trip gives graduating students a chance to celebrate their final year together with a week of fun, fellowship, and unforgettable memories. In recent years, the trip has taken students to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where they enjoy day trips, group activities, and time to relax and reflect before graduation.
Held school-wide each semester, these high-energy rallies celebrate and send off our varsity sports teams with cheers, games, and plenty of SMCA spirit.
Our drama program puts on two productions each year—one at Christmas and one in the spring—giving students the chance to shine on stage and share stories that inspire and entertain.
Each March, athletes, coaches, and families come together to celebrate the season with a formal banquet featuring awards, highlights, and reflections on a year of growth, effort, and team spirit.
