Secondary Student life at SMCA

Smiles That Last.
Friendships That Grow.

At SMCA, life outside the classroom is just as vibrant as what happens inside. Our secondary students enjoy a wide variety of events, activities, and traditions that make each year fun, memorable, and filled with opportunities to grow in faith, friendship, and creativity.

RENEW Retreat (Grades 9-12)

Each fall, students in Grades 9–12 kick off the school year with RENEW—a three-day retreat held at Camp Berea in Hebron, New Hampshire. Inspired by Psalm 51:10, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me,” this retreat is a time for students and faculty to reset, reconnect, and refocus on Christ.

Through worship sessions, teaching, small group discussions, games, swimming, and outdoor adventures, students build deeper relationships with one another and with the Lord. RENEW has become a cornerstone of the SMCA experience, setting a spiritual tone for the year and fostering unity across our high school community.

8th Grade Pennsylvania Trip

Each Fall, SMCA’s 8th grade class embarks on a memorable three-day trip to Pennsylvania, accompanied by Mr. Amador and parent chaperones. Over the course of Thursday through Saturday, students enjoy a live, faith-based performance at Sight & Sound Theatre in Lancaster, followed by a day of fun and thrills at Hershey Park.

More than just a getaway, this trip is a meaningful time for students to bond as a class, experience God-honoring storytelling, and celebrate entering their final year middle school with laughter and shared memories.

Spring Formal

Each May, SMCA juniors and seniors come together to celebrate the close of the school year with Spring Formal—a special evening filled with fun, fellowship, and lasting memories.

Planned by the 11th grade girls, this student-led event features a meal, games, and dancing, and is typically held at event venue in Southern, New Hampshire. It’s a meaningful tradition that reflects creativity, community, and the joy of shared experiences to cap off the year.

Senior Trip

A long-standing SMCA tradition, the Senior Trip gives graduating students a chance to celebrate their final year together with a week of fun, fellowship, and unforgettable memories. In recent years, the trip has taken students to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where they enjoy day trips, group activities, and time to relax and reflect before graduation.
