At SMCA, life outside the classroom is just as vibrant as what happens inside. Our elementary students enjoy a wide variety of events, activities, and traditions that make each year fun, memorable, and filled with opportunities to grow in faith, friendship, and creativity.
Each fall, the entire SMCA student body looks forward to one of our favorite traditions—the annual Fall Hayride, a festive, school-wide event hosted in partnership with one of our SMCA families. Throughout the day, classes take turns heading out for a ride through the crisp autumn air, with our senior class helping to run the event and guide younger students through the fun.
Along the way, students pass by a pumpkin patch, where each child chooses their own pumpkin to take back to school. The fun continues with snacks like popcorn and cider, and wraps up with pumpkin painting —a creative and joyful way to celebrate the season together.
Students showcase their musical talents and worship through song in two beloved performances each year—one to celebrate the birth of Christ and one to wrap up the school year with joy.
From crazy hair to favorite colors, these fun-themed days give students a break from uniforms and a chance to express their creativity.
This fun mid-year day gives each class dedicated time in the gym for high-energy games, bounce house fun, and a joyful break from the daily routine. It’s a simple but exciting tradition that students look forward to every year.
Spirit Week is one of the most anticipated events of the year for our elementary students! Each day brings a new themed outfit—whether it’s Pajama Day, Favorite Color Day, or Wacky Hat Day—giving students the chance to show creativity, express themselves, and join in the school-wide fun.
Throughout the week, students also enjoy special snacks, classroom activities, and occasional surprises that make the experience even more memorable. Spirit Week is more than just dressing up—it's about building community, celebrating school spirit, and creating joyful moments students will remember long after the week is over.
Cheer on our SMCA athletes and celebrate school spirit with energetic rallies that make every student feel part of the team.
Elementary students have the opportunity to participate in SMCA’s Ski Club—an exciting way to stay active and enjoy the winter season.
Students from Grades 1–6 challenge their vocabulary skills in this friendly competition that builds confidence and language mastery.
At SMCA, learning goes beyond the classroom. Our elementary students participate in a variety of field trips throughout the year that spark curiosity, connect to classroom learning, and celebrate God’s creation and design.Whether exploring marine life at the Boston Aquarium, discovering history at Strawbery Banke, or observing real-world government in action at the NH State Capitol, each trip is designed to bring learning to life.
Highlights include visits to:
- Science & Children’s Museum
- Odiorne Point
- Capital Center for the Arts
- Apple Picking
- Butterfly Place
- McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center
These memorable experiences help students make lasting connections between their education and the world around them.
